Pye History Trust Collection

A number of people and organisations have contributed to the acquisition and collection of products, documents and information in order to document the Pye Group company history and create the web site www.pyemuseum.org.

Grateful thanks and acknowledgments are due to the people and organisations mentioned below.

The initial basis of the Pye History Trust Collection is the research, documents and equipment amassed by the Pye Telecom Historic Collection (PTHC) between 1975 and 2015. This was started by Pye Telecom Radio Systems Manager, Mr. D.A.D. Smith FIET in about 1975. Many members of staff subsequently contributed to the acquisition and maintenance of the Company’s own historic equipment collection and museum over a period of more than 25 years.

In 2002 when Simoco International Ltd was broken up, a majority of the collection was obtained from the administrators of Simoco by a group of ex-Pye employees in order to secure it for the future.

Between 2002 and 2015 the collection was housed in privately funded storage and used to create the original Pye Telecom History web site. From 2015 the Pye Telecom History Project has become part of a wider Pye History Project and is now to be funded by the Pye History Trust and supported by the Pye Foundation Trust.
